Re-edit of ink on paper sketch, print on Super Glossy C-Type on Fuji Flex 300dpi
(My original drawing for this was about rhythm and our internal clocks. Mainly the infradian rhythms such as the menstrual cycle and the circles are gears and cogs something that we cannot move away from or exist without. No mouth, is to signify how nature (the machine) does not care for screams. I brightened the colours and these are hope and our fight against entropy because we have an imperative to live and to create, yet we don't know why. Such as why do we have a deep need to re-create ourselves). Comments
dsidhu my personal reponse to this work has been in two parts. Initially I felt that it was both very strong and depressing. Your choice of colours, the horizontal lines and large shapes in the backgound demonstrate little empathy or support for the figure. The figure is isolated. The womb is empty(or threatened) and the harsh green shapes around the head reinforce my feelings of loneliness and exposure.
When I looked again as a large view, the little areas of bright jewel-like colour and the wavy, tentative lines are lovely. They suggest great sensitivity and a reassurance of 'care'. Have you left this work untitled to reinforce this message? Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback. My original drawing for this was about rhythm and our internal clocks.
